Ingredients

  • 1 c organic whole wheat flour

  • ¼ c sprouted whole wheat flour

  • 1 tbsp buttermilk powder

  • 1 tbsp powdered sugar

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • ¼ tsp baking powder

  • ¼ shortening

  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter

  • 3 tbsp orange juice

  • 3 tbsp ice water

  • 8 apples peeled and sliced or chopped.

  • ¼ c flour

  • ½ c organic cane sugar

  • ¼ c brown sugar

  • 1 to 2 tsp cinnamon

  • ¾ c flour

  • ¼ c cane sugar

  • ¼ c brown sugar

  • ½ c oatmeal

  • ⅓ c melted butter

Directions

  1. Mix the dry ingredients in a large bowl.

  2. Add in shortening and butter. Use a pastry cutter or fork to cut the butter/shortening mixture into the flour.

  3. Add in your liquids. Gently mix together.

  4. It should form a ball like this.

  5. Roll it out onto a lightly floured surface and roll it out. Place into a pie dish.

  6. Place it in the fridge to chill for about 30 minutes.

  7. Peel the apples, chop or slice them up. Place them in a large bowl. Add in the flour, sugar and cinnamon.

  8. Pour the apple mixture into the pie crust.

  9. Mix the crumble ingredients. Pour onto the apples.

  10. Bake at 350 for ¾ to 1 hour. Cool on the counter.
